Sanctum Therapy

    CERTIFICATIONS

California now has a voluntary statewide certification of massage therapists and was chaptered into California law on September 27th, 2008.  In addition, in October 2009 Shannon Lynn Brown became a CMT under this law.

The purpose behind CAMTC's creation was to serve the interests of the public and the massage profession by making the process of certification the same throughout the state, rather than different in each city and county. Statewide certification through CAMTC will streamline massage therapists registration procedures, help local governments keep track of whether a massage therapist is actually licensed or certified elsewhere, and will increase transparency for the general public about what "certified" stands for in a title. For more information go to CAMTC.

What is the most important reason for insisting on an NCBTMB certified professional? You are. Because whether you're visiting a massage therapist or bodyworker for relaxation, rehabilitation or rejuvenation, you deserve to be treated by a practitioner who is both skilled and knowledgeable. And that's what the NCBTMB credential stands for - a commitment to excellence.
To become nationally certified, practitioners must demonstrate mastery of core skills and knowledge, pass an NCBTMB standardized exam, uphold the organization's Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and take part in continued education.
Today, there are 87,000 nationally certified practitioners throughout the country - and you can find them in physician offices, private practices, spas, rehab facilities, health clubs and hospitals.

In addition to being certified, Shannon Lynn Brown has also taken the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) through the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). The mission of the Federation is to support its Member Boards in their work to ensure that the practice of massage therapy is provided to the public in a safe and effective manner.
